Economic integration is a foundational dimension of the immigrant settlement process. As employment is a core issue, newcomers need to match their own skills with Canada’s labour market. The employability of newcomers depends on several factors such as educational credentials, the ability to converse in English or French, and working experience including technical skills and soft skills (Wilson et al., 2017).
To explore newcomers’ abilities in achieving economic integration, OneHub Growth addresses systemic issues and adopts strengths-based perspectives to:
- Identify personal goals
- Assess personal strengths to help clients reach their goals
- Understand the obstacles and barriers that impede goal achievement
- Use one’s strengths and capacities to overcome barriers
- Emphasize personal growth and development
